Dickson - Gladdis

Little five year old Gladdis (Glydas), youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm Dickson (now of Putnam County) was buried at Shannondale Cemetery Sunday morning. The burial was private because she died of diphtheria. The family has the sincere sympathy of their old neighbors and friends. -s

Glydas Dixon, the youngest child of William and Destimona Dixon, died of diphtheria and was buried at Shannondale Cemetery Sunday, Dec. 16, aged 5 years, two weeks and a few days. But it was God’s power that bore suffering to rest in Heaven where sickness, sorrow or death is never known. “Suffer little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of God.” For Jesus in teaching His disciples called a little child unto Him, and said: “Verily, I say unto you, except you be converted and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of god; for in Heaven the angles do always behold the face of my Father, which is in Heaven.”
Glydas was a sweet and bright child, loved by all who knew her. Her sweet smiles were always noticed by all. We miss her, but ‘tis God who knows best. He has taken her to rest to prepare a place for us. It seems as children, such as Glydas, so loving and innocent, should be called first to lead us to prepare for our Savior in Heaven, where all is well.
She leaves a sad father, mother, brother and five sisters to mourn her loss. But this world is but a wafer to prepare with our lives beyond. - s
